The 50 Most Downloaded WordPress Plugins

I rely on WordPress for not all, but most of my “digital properties”.
As I’m kind of a tweaking fanatic, there are some installations with quite a lot of WordPress plugins installed. I hate the search function of the WP plugin repository with a passion (filters are nonexistant and it never shows what I want it to show), and as I was curious about what the 50 most downloaded wordpress plugins are, I had a VA compile this little list for me.
Do whatever you want with it – obviously, it doesn’t mean you should install ALL those plugins, but it might give you some good ideas of how to improve the functionality of your page.

I myself use a lot of these on my WordPress blog. Great list which deserves to be reviewed and searched for tools.
The article is completely true, specially the part where it says that sometimes we can’t rely on wordpress because it isn’t what we need. So I must say Akismet and Sociable are my favorites. I use them. No more spam, and great bookmarking too.
I personally use the all-in-one SEO pack, and akismet, as many people recommended using them. I didn’t know some of these plugins can even exist, and I always had trouble choosing which plugin to install among all the search results.

Stick with what you feel is right. Overloading WP with tons of plugins will most likely just slow it down and won’t help in terms of “consumer satisfaction”….

Definitely agree with what you stated. Your explanation was certainly the easiest to understand. I tell you, I usually get irked when folks discuss issues that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail right on the head and explained out everything without complication. Maybe, people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
